BRENT CROSS 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Brent Cross is celebrating 40 years as North London’s iconic shopping destination. As the first American style shopping mall in the UK, we’ve been setting trends for 4 decades – and there’s plenty more to come!

This year will see a series of special events and promotions to mark the occasion, but we’d like to start by sharing our favourite memories of the last 40 years and enjoying some of yours…

A Ruby anniversary is a special milestone and one we’re proud to be celebrating with our customers and staff – many of whom have been with us since we opened in 1976! Here they are telling us why Brent Cross is special to them:

GUESS WHO’S COMING BACK TO BRENT CROSS?

It didn’t seem right to talk about the last 40 years without giving the wooden animals a mention. Much loved and talked about, these guys were a Saturday afternoon staple in many of our childhoods. So, we decided to bring them back. The original animals were donated to a zoo many years ago, and with nothing to work from but some old photos it’s been a challenge. BUT we very excited to tell you that the turtle, caterpillar and horse will be making a come back. Here’s a sneak peak of our clever friends at Theme Traders hard at work:

40 YEARS AT BRENT CROSS

The launch of Brent Cross on 2nd March 1976, which had been 19 years in the making, was an innovative step for the face of London retail, but we’re still home to many retailers who were present on that day 40 years ago – including John Lewis, Fenwick, M&S, Boots, WH Smith, Russell & Bromley, Miss Selfridge and Mothercare. Over the years we’ve welcomed famous visitors and provided the backdrop for movies sets and music videos, as well as hosting London’s biggest urban beach. Here are some of our best bits:
